A Fresh Approach to Conference Registration

For this conference, we are trialing a flexible model for registration fees.

As a party, we are committed to inclusivity and aim to minimise barriers for members attending our conference. We believe this new approach to registration fees will help us welcome individuals from all walks of life to our conference, while allowing us to organise a high-quality event without needing to draw from party funds designated for campaigning.

After carefully assessing the costs involved in hosting a first-rate conference, we have set a recommended registration fee of £90. This aligns with the amount suggested by the Scottish Liberal Democrats for their members to attend the Scottish Conference. We encourage all members who are able to contribute this amount to consider doing so.

To ensure the conference remains accessible to all we do offer alternative flexible fee options on the registration form, allowing members to pay according to what they can afford.

So that the essential costs of the event are covered, we kindly ask all members to pay at least £45 to register. A special concessionary rate of £25 is however available for members who are under 18, full-time students, or recipients of state benefits. These minimum rates reflect the cost of on-the-day registration at recent conferences.

Any contributions above the lowest fee options will be used to enhance the overall conference experience for everyone while keeping the minimum fee affordable. Possible enhancements include:

  • Complimentary lunch and refreshments.
  • A printed Conference Guide for all attendees.
  • High-quality branding throughout the venue.

Members can register at any time leading up to, and even during, the conference. However, last-minute registrations make it challenging for us to properly plan for the numbers attending. To encourage early registration, starting Wednesday, 26th March, only the recommended fee option will be available. Additionally, we are waiving the online transaction fee for registrations completed before Wednesday, 19th February.
