A Fresh Approach to Conference Registration

For this conference, we are trialing a flexible model for member registration fees

As a party, we are committed to inclusivity and aim to minimise barriers to attending our conference. We believe this new approach to fees will allow party members from all walks of life to join in, while enabling us to organise a high-quality event without needing to draw from the party's campaigning funds.

Your Questions Answered

1. How is this model flexible?

The registration form offers a range of fee options, allowing you to choose an amount that aligns with what you can afford.

2. Is there a recommended fee?

Yes, after carefully assessing the costs of hosting a first-rate conference, we have set a recommended registration fee of £90. This is in line with the suggested fee for attending the Scottish Liberal Democrat Spring Conference. We encourage members who are able to contribute this amount to consider doing so.

3. Is there a minimum fee?

To cover the essential costs of the event, we kindly request a minimum registration fee of £45. A special concessionary rate of £25 is also available. These rates are the same as the on-the-day registration prices for conferences over the last decade.

4. If I pay more than the minimum, what will it be spent on?

Your additional support will help us create a more engaging and enjoyable event while maintaining affordability for everyone. With your generosity, we aim to provide:

  • Complimentary Lunch and Refreshments: Offering participants something to eat and drink to lubricate debate, networking and socialising.
  • Printed Conference Guides: Giving each attendee a professionally printed booklet containing the agenda and motions, along with detailed information to help them navigate the conference.
  • High-Quality Branding: Elevating the visual design and atmosphere across the venue.
  • More Training and Break-Out Sessions: Providing greater opportunities to learn, engage in focused discussions, and gain practical skills.

5. Are there benefits for registering early?

While members can register at any time leading up to, and even during, the conference, registering early helps the organisers ensure a successful event! As an thank you, early registrants (before 19th February) will avoid having to pay online booking fees. However, late registrants (from 26th March) will only have the option of paying the recommended fee.
